Squirrel and Cow
July 22nd
Today I picked up a toy in a box, went home, opened it and found a cow inside. What are the chances. Actually, the chance is 1/8... but for it to be colored (instead of B/W) and for it to say exactly what it says there.... seriously what are the chances? It says "リスクを恐れるな!モー失うものはない!" -- I am afraid of risk! There is nothing that I would lose anymore! and logically it has a squirrel (リス) and a cow (モー = moo).... so ironically it also says "I wouldn't lose *a cow* anymore!"...

............ I'm speechless.
Actually today has been a great day for me... in the morning I was awoken by the delivery guy who delivered my SD card.. stupid me I left my 512 SD card in Canada.. so I had to order another one here for my camera. 1Gb Kingston SD Card for $30 + $10shipping/handling.. I would say that's a pretty good deal (if I forget about the $9.99 Bestbuy deal a while ago). Then later as I walked out to grab lunch at my local convenient store Lawsons', I ran into Uchiyama san driving me his TV and fridge!! WOohoo! It was interesting cuz he was driving a bright pink car, so I asked him if he liked pink and he said his wife likes it. Aww... isn't that the sweetest thing... honestly.. what guy would buy/drive a PINK car just cuz his wife likes it? Anyways.. after carrying the TV and fridge upstairs, he offered to have lunch with me =) so we went to the Italian restaurant at LIVIN. We had a good chat... haha he is such an interesting person. Hopefully we'll be better friends later on. =)
After that, I decided to give TOKYO BADMINTON CLUB a try.. so I packed my stuff and headed out to Shibuya then to Komazawa Daigaku station.. which is an hour and a half away from my place.. after many obstacles I finally found the elementary school they usually play at.. only to find that there's no baddy cuz the school is under renovation. -_-;;.... so I trained back to Shibuya and walked around for a bit. I ended up spending most of my evening in Loft... =) I like their stuff but its a bit too westernized. Oh well.. and that is where I got the random toy which turned out to be a cow. I trained back home and now I am exhausted... oh I forgot to have dinner... does a pack of cookies + McDonalds Munchers (potato balls with cheese inside) + a fish sausage count as dinner? Oh well.. too late now it's 2am.... goodnight.

Happy birthday cowjai...
The highlight of today was going to the Fuurin matsuri at Kawasaki Daishi (or was it the Jinja afterwards? =P). At around 4:15 I met up with Kelvin and Meghan and headed towards the temple for the festival. There was a parade at 4:30 where a group of middle aged men/women danced with a fan in their hands. There was an exhibition of fuurin (wind chimes) from different prefectures from all over Japan.. that was pretty cool. Afterwards, we went into the temple and we got our fortunes.. I got "bad" fortune, but the monk there was so nice cuz he knew we were gaijins and he showed me the way to the fence where I tie my bad fortune and pray for my bad luck to be gone.

After that we talked to a lady selling omiyage and she kept giving us different kinds of treats to eat.. hehe.. we asked her about the other temple and after a while we finally realized that it's a jinja (shrine) we're looking for, not a temple. So after getting directions from the nice lady and exploring for a bit, we finally got to the shrine. Inside the shrine... there was a huge schlong statue. People pray at that shrine for having babies... I guess that kind of explains the statue. =P

After that, we went to an okonomiyaki restaurant where we made our own okonomiyaki, takoyaki AND monjayaki... hehe it was great altho it took us some effort to flip the takoyaki's.. hehe that was fun. Here's the finished product of our cooking:

I also got my GETA today at LIVIN (so i won't have to borrow Keith's again next time.. ;) hehe thanks Keith) and I just barely fit their geta of the biggest size (25.5-26.5cm).. damn big feet.. >< There were 2 of that size, one was really comfy and the other one had a much nicer pattern.. in the end I chose the prettier one. =P I also got geta socks to go with it so it wouldn't hurt so much wearing them.. hehee the geta socks were only 150yen (50% off of 300yen) and my geta only cost 2800yen (after 20% off of 3300yen)!! haha I feel like I got such a good bargain. =P While getting my geta, I was chatting with this middleaged saleslady there and she was SUPER nice... I told her I'll be wearing my yukata to watch the fireworks at Kamikaze park next saturday and she asked me to visit her with my yukata on at the store! So I promised her I'll visit her wearing my yukata before I go to the fireworks.. =D

All my friends in Van are probably wondering how my apartment is like... so here are some pictures of my room:
When you walk in the door, on your left hand side is the kitchen, on your right hand side is the bathroom. and if you walk past those, then you will see my bed on your right hand side and my desk on your left.
